INTRODUCTION TO BASIC COMPUTING

The Introduction to Basic computing course is typically designed for individuals who have little to no prior knowledge or experience with computers. The course aims to provide a foundation of computer literacy and essential skills to navigate and utilize computer systems effectively.

This course introduces computer concepts, including fundamental functions and operations of the computer. Topics include identification of hardware components, basic computer operations, security issues, and use of software applications. Emphasis is on defining and categorizing computers and operating systems; purchasing hardware and software; understanding files and data storage options; exploring computer architecture; and understanding digital media.

Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role and function of computers and use the computer to solve problems.
